Job Description
Supportability Engineering Team Leader (Submarine)
Based at Barrow a key role leading the Supportability Engineering (SE) Team and reporting directly to the Design Manager, the post holder will be responsible for:
- Execution of the Successor supportability strategy, policy and analysis requirements, at Major System level for the Secondary Propulsion System/Platform Systems Design areas.
- Management and coordination of the ILS and AR&M activities with the DFS process in support of the Major System design areas to meet Design Review criteria and programme at Major System Level.
- Coordinate and manage the analysis of the Successor Major Systems design and development to ensure optimisation of Support Solutions.
Core Duties & Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage the ILS activities across the design, its interfacing areas and its associated suppler base for the collection, collation and analysis of ILS related data, ensuring coherent analysis across various outputs including FMECA, AR &M, RCM etc.
Investigate, analyse and record all data connected with LSA, AR &M, Maintenance, Provisioning and Supply Support activities
Identify, develop and deliver optimum support solutions across the Major System areas, tailored to satisfy specific programme requirements and the needs of the in-service community, interfacing with all other project areas as applicable;
Determine SE outputs to inform development of maintenance demands, frequencies and Trade-Offs.
Ensure a coherent application of the methodologies for Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and Trade-Offs to be applied.
Represent the DFS discipline when dealing with relevant internal and external stakeholders to include customers, partners, industry groups and the supplier base.
Knowledge Qualifications and Technical Skills Required
A strong robust leader with developed interpersonal skills, the candidate must have extensive experience in the ILS arena, and ideally will be Degree qualified in an engineering/technical or science discipline.
Substantial practical experience in the application of AR&M and LSA methodologies, including sound working knowledge of Def Stans 00-40, 00-41, 00-42, 00-60 and MIL-STD-1390.
Proven track record of influencing product design for availability, reliability, maintainability and supportability and in the development of optimised through life support solutions.
